A traditional and very popular concert of Christmas music and readings. The concert included winning entries from our Reading Composition Competition.



An Evening of English Music

A concert of music written by English composers including Howard Goodall (Theme from The Vicar of Dibley),
Geoffrey Burgon, Edward Elgar, Hugh Roberton (All in the April Evening) and John Rutter.

The choir was joined by John Keys on the organ.


LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS

At the North Notts Community Arena, Eastgate, Worksop, S80 1QS

Another evening of exhilarating choral and orchestral music. We were delighted to be joined again by Ben Frith and English Pro Musica for this lively concert. Ben played Tchaikowsky's Piano Concerto No 1 in Bb minor.
The Russian theme of this concert included popular pieces from musicals and film, including the Romeo and Juliet Overture, the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, Dostoino Yest and the 1812 Overture, all by Tchaikowsky, Lara's Theme from Dr Zhivago, a selection from Kismet and the Cherubic Hymn by Glinka
As usual, there were plenty of opportunity for the audience to participate in the traditional 'Last Night' singing in the second part of the concert.

MOZART REQUIEM

Worksop Priory

Ryton Chorale was joined by English Pro Musica for a performance of Mozart's Requiem, one of the masterpieces in the choral repertoire. The programme also included a performance of Haydn's St. Nicholas Mass and Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

The soloists for the performances were -

Iris Korfker - Soprano

Aurore Lacabe - Alto

Nicholas Keay - Tenor

Michael Bundy - Bass

LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS CONCERT

Performed at North Notts Arena on Saturday 3rd July 2010.

The first half was based on a Russian theme with Bacchanale from The Seasons by Glazunov, a selection of pieces from Fiddler on the Roof by Bock. Tchaikowsky's Suite no.3 then Full choir and orchestra with the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor by Borodin.

The second half was Benjamin Frith at the piano performing Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninov, the choir with Mamma Mia, Afton Water and Where the gentle Avon flows. Then the concert was rounded off with LNOP favourites and plenty of flag waving.
